Hair tidy jar, dressing table pot or vanity jar, sterling silver lid
Hobnail cut glass glass hair tidy jar or dressing table pot or with a sterling silver lid, hallmarked for Birmingham in 1921.
The lid to this vanity jar does have multiple dents but the jar retains a vintage charm, particularly contrasting the silver against the beautiful facets of the sharply cut crystal glass.
The jar would originally have been used for containing loose hair after brushing, but with its hole in the lid is also perfect for dressing table trinkets such as cotton buds, hatpins and cosmetic applicators.
The maker is Boots Pure Drug Company, now better known in the UK as the leading high street store Boots.
Diameter 5.5cm/2.25 inches. Height to top of lid is 6.5 cm/is 7cm/2.6 inches.
Silver weight of the lid is 12g
The glass to this pot is in very good condition, with no cracks or chips. The lid is dented as described above. Surface scratches are as to be expected of a vintage item. Hallmarks are crisp.
