6 silver plated teaspoons with tongs, Art Deco style, wooden case
6 silver plated teaspoons in an Art Deco style, together with a matching pair of tongs or sugar nips, presented in a hinged wooden box.
I have seldom seen silver plated teaspoons from the Art Deco period presented in a fitted wooden box of this quality - this type of finishing touch is usually reserved for cutlery sets comprising at least 24 pieces. The box has beaded decoration to the outside, lined with peach silk and brown velvet.
The spoons themselves are also very pretty, with stylised shells to the tips of the handles and down the side of the tongs.
I cannot identify the maker but the spoons are marked with "EPNS" and the registration number 715140, 1925 being the year the pattern was first registered.
The spoons and tongs are 11.5 cm/4.5 inches long.
Condition is good to commensurate with age. There is some wear and thinning to the silver plate with a few isolated pocks, although the overall appearance of the spoons is bright and lustrous. The box, however, is in very good condition - very few scuffs and scratches and clean inside.
Please view the photographs carefully to ensure you are happy with the description and condition before bidding. I am always willing to answer queries and provide more photographs on request.
