Art Nouveau butter knife, mother of pearl handle, silver plated blade
Small mother of pearl and silver plated silver butter knife with Art Nouveau style scrolls to the blade, dating to the early 20th century.
The butter knife has a an embossed reeded and beaded collar separating the blade from the handle.. The handle has the lovely pink and green iridescence that makes vintage mother of pearl cutlery so highly prized.
This is the perfect item to add a little vintage decadence to the tea table.
The maker's marks say, "J S * S", which is probably John Sherwood and Sons of Birmingham, England.
Condition is good to commensurate with use. There are some surface scratches and small marks are as to be expected from an item of this vintage, no significant plate loss.
Length is 13.5cm/5.5 inches
