Siam silver nielloware brooch in fan design with mystical figures

Oriental silver brooch in a fan design with a scene of mystical figures. This brooch is signed to the back with "Siam Sterling" and is in nielloware - a black enamel and silver jewellery with engraved and pierced patterns and figures.

Siam has been called Thailand since 1949 so the brooch will pre-date this period - probably around the 1930s.

This is a very pretty and delicate little sterling silver brooch - perfect for a light silk scarf or top. The brooch fastens with a rollover pin clasp and has a safety chain for extra security. It is presented in a new red gift box.

Please note that the word "sterling" on any silver item is not a true hallmark guaranteeing the metal but it is very commonly used on real silver to indicate a 92.5% purity, the sterling silver grade.

The brooch would make a perfect gift for her or for anyone who loves their vintage jewellery.

Maximum dimensions are: Length 4 cm/1.5 inches; Width 2.5 cm/1 inch.

The brooch is in good vintage condition. Due to age the brooch has a darkened patina but I have left this unpolished to preseve the charm and vintage character of this brooch. The back pin is slightly kinked but I am not sure if this is intended - in any case it doesn't affect its function.

Please view the photographs carefully to ensure you are happy with the description and condition before bidding. I am always willing to answer queries and provide more photographs on request.
