2 sterling silver pepperettes, hallmarked Birmingham 1919
Two sterling silver pepperettes in a Georgian style with high-domed pierced tops, acorn finials and baluster bodies, hallmarked for Birmingham 1919.
This is a very classic and popular style. Maker's marks are rubbed but look like "S B & S Ld" which would stand for S Blanckensee and Son Ltd.
The pepperettes have a small wooden pad added to the under-base for extra stability.
Please note that although the hallmarks, the size and the style are the same, the pepperettes are very slightly different from each other. This is most noticeable in the lid fittings - one is a screw yop and the other presses into its fitting.
The pepperettes are in a medium size and would add a touch of luxury to the dining table or tray.
Height 9cm/3.5 inches
Maximum diameter 4cm/1.5 inches
Total weight is 49g, including the wooden bases, which probably accounts for around 3 to 6g.
Condition is good to commensurate with previous use. There are some small dings and dents generally although these do not significantly affect the appearance. One lid is slightly awkward to fit because of some mis-shaping to the body rim - but once secured both lids are nice and tight. There are no splits, Minor pocks and fine surface scratches as you would expect with previous use. No splits. The hallmarks are a little rubbed although the city mark, rampant lion and date marks are legible.
Please view the photographs carefully to ensure you are happy with the description and condition before bidding. I am always willing to answer queries and provide more photographs on request.
