Birmingham hinged silver bangle, hallmarked 1971, engraved bracelet
Hinged sterling silver bangle hallmarked for Birmingham in 1971. The convex band bracelet is hand-engravedto the top with leaves and flowers. The lower outer and inner bands are undecorated, and the hallmarks are impressed to the inside. The bracelet is hollow to the centre (as this style of bracelet usually is) but that does not imply any loss of quality, The structure enables a chunky feel. The bracelet is fastened with a tongue and groove clasp. Please note that there is no safety chain with this bangle.
The bracelet is marked with normal English assay marks, plus the wording, "Excalibur, Sterling Silver, Made in England". to the inside. It also bears the initials, H.S.Ltd - probably the retailer was H Samuel Ltd. ,
This is a lovely vintage item in a good size and with plenty of impact!
6 cm/2.5 inches in diameter; 17.5 cm/7 inches internal (wrist fitting) circumference; 21.5 cm/8.5 inches external circumference.
Silver weight is 27g.
Condition is good to commensurate with previous use. The bracelet is missing its safety chain and although it is perfectly functional and tight fitting the buyer may choose to replace it. There are a couple of shallow creases to the inside band but these do not affect the silver on the outer band at all. Minor light surface scratches are as to be expected of a vintage item. Box condition is a little battered and marked.
Postage will be by signed delivery to UK destinations and signed and tracked delivery to international destinations.
