Caithness paperweight, Millenium Starburst, limited edition 481/650
Caithness paperweight, Millenium Starburst, in a high domed shape designed by Colin Terris and in a limited edition 481 of 650 This glass paperweight was released in 1999.
This paperweight is both stunning and unusual. Made with a golden brown tint to the glass, it has a purple and white base with a firework exploding into tiny bubbles in the peak of the dome. The colours to the firework are dichroically filtered so that only a radiant turquoise is reflected - to great effect! The number "2000" is suspended above the scene.
The paperweight is etched to the base with, " Scotland Millenium Starburst 481/650".
To those of us who fondly remember the celebrations at midnight on 31st December 1999 this paperweight is a wonderful memento.
The maximum diameter of the paperweight is 7.5cm/3 inches. Height is approximately 10cm/4 inches.
Condition is good. No chips or cracks. Minor surface scratches as you would expect of a used item but very minimal. The Caithness word to the signature is not visible to to poor stamping.
