Carnival glass bowl, Sowerby glass, Thistle and Thorn
Carnival Glass bowl by Sowerby of England in their Thistle and Thorn pattern. This is a sweet bowl in iridescent orange glass dating to the 1920s.
This is a very attractive and quite deep Art Deco small bowl ideal for sweets, nuts or small fruits. It is nicely moulded with a design of trumpet-like thistle flowers and large leaves and its four splayed feet have a bark texture. It is finished with an attractive wavy rim.
With its high lustre and iridescence this bowl would look great in a well lit corner or a display unit.
Diameter is 13.5 cm/5.5 inches. Height is 9 cm/3.5 inches.
Condition is good to commensurate with use. I can find no faults except for a couple of long scratches to the finish inside the bowl (see last photo). There are no chips or cracks.
Please view the photographs carefully to ensure you are happy with the description and condition before bidding. I am always willing to answer queries and provide more photographs on request.
