Continental silver pickle fork, German Arts & Crafts style, 1895-1917
Arts and Crafts styled German silver pickle fork in 800 grade, produced by Koch and Bergfeld of Bremen and dating from 1895 to 1917.
This is a robust and simply styled fork in a heavy grade of German hallmarked silver. Its stepped pattern to the tip and neck of the handle is suggestive of the Art Deco that was to come, but there is light planishing to the handle stem that is more typical of the Arts and Crafts period. Yet this fork is stylish enough to look perfectly at home in a contemporary setting.
The pickle fork is 14cm/5.5 inches long. Silver weight is 29g
The pickle fork is in very good condition, with no damage or marks other than light surface scratches which you would expect of any previously used cutlery.
