Silver plated pastry forks, pie server, EPNS boxed set
Boxed set of 6 silver plated pastry forks or cake forks plus a pie and tart server in an Art Deco style.
The set probably dates to the 1950s or 60s. The pie slice or server is a particularly pretty feature and quite unusual to be presented with pastry forks. It has a chamfered pale orange Bakelite handle and a polished stainless steel blade etched with the words "Bijou Pie and Tart Server". The fork handles have a classic Art Deco shape and pattern to the edges. The cardboard box contains a label to the inside telling us that the cutlery was produced at the Dacre Works in Sheffield by I S Dearden.
This is a pretty and elegant little set which would look on the table today as in the nostalgic retro decades in which it was produced.
Condition is good. There are surface scratches to be expected with moderate previous use but no plate wear or loss. Box condition is a little battered and scuffed, with some missing separaters to the inside.
Fork length is 12.5 cm (5 inches)
Server length is 16.5 cm/6.5 inches.
