Marcasite bow silver tone brooch, cultured pearl centre
Silver tone brooch in the shape of a bow, highlighted with marcasite stones and containing an iridescent cultured pearl to the centre.
The brooch is presented in a black velvet box with white lining.
This is a more modern twist of the more traditional marcasite jewellery. The bow ribbon is textured with tiny lines that give a brushed or matt effect decorated with a small diamond-cut pattern.
This is a rather sophisticated brooch which would look great with formal wear such as a suit jacket lapel. Its silvery looks would contrast perfectly with dark colours.
The brooch pin secured with a safety catch. I would estimate that the brooch dates to the 1980s or early 90s. There is no maker's name.
Maximum height is 2.5 cm/1 inch. Maximum width is 5 cm/2 inches.
The brooch is in very good vintage condition and looks as if it has been very little worn. The box is not original and contains pin-holes from a previous piece of jewellery. There is no stone loss.
