Solo Recital, Reminiscences of Michael Kelly, Folio Society book, opera singer memoirs, hardback with slip cover, 18th century music
"Solo Recital - The Reminiscences of Michael Kelly" is the memoirs of an 18th and early 19th century opera singer published by the Folio Society in 1972. The book has an introduction by J C Trewin and a biographical index by Herbert van Thal.
There are 372 pages of text including the index, with illustrated prints throughout. This is a beautifully bound hardback book with a red-patterned cover and a red leatherette spine. The book is enclosed in a mid-brown cardboard slip cover.
This is a fascinating insight into the life of a near-contemporary of Mozart as the Irish singer anecdotes his life traveling the Continent. It would be ideal for a student of music, or indeed for anyone who is interested in the music and social history of the period. The pleasure of the read is enhanced by the presentation of such an attractive book.
Condition is good, with no serious marks or scuffs to the book. The slip cover is slightly marked and faded but sound.
