Chester silver button hook, Art Nouveau embossed handle
Small Chester silver handled small button hook hallmarked for 1919.with an embossed Art Nouveau scroll design by J & R Griffin.
Button hooks work by inserting the long hook though the outside edge of the buttonhole and using it to grasp the co-ordinating button underneath and pulling it through. A very simple idea but could be indispensable to those with restricted use of their fingers, whether through arthritis, injuries or other conditions.
The button hook is 17cm/6.75 inches long.
Condition is good with no significant dings or dents to the handle. There is some surface marking to the steel hook, as you would expect of a non-stainless steel item of this vintage. Minor surface marks and scratches are also as to be expected.
Please view the photographs carefully to ensure you are happy with the description and condition before bidding. I am always willing to answer queries and provide more photographs on request.
