The Pilgrim features the 17th century account by the Italian Pietro della Valle of his travels through Turkey, Persia and India. The book is translated, abridged and introduced by George Bull, and this version was produced by the Folio Society in 1989.
This book is beautifully bound with green and red cloth hardback cover and a gilt tooled pattern to the front. the book is presented in a red strong cardboard slip cover The book comprises 303 pages including an index and engraved illustrations throughout.
This would be a fascinating insight into the social history and sights of the Middle East in that period. The look and feel of a nicely bound illustrated book like this makes the read so much more satisfying and pleasurable.
Condition is very good, with no marks or scuffs to the book and only minor marks to the slip cover.
